4 Days in Barcelona: A First-Visit Itinerary with One Real Choice

Give one day to Sagrada Família and Gràcia, one to the Gothic Quarter and El Born, one to Montjuïc and Eixample, then choose between Montserrat and a slower Barcelona day. Four days is enough to see the city well. It is not a reason to stack every Gaudí interior.

Reserve Sagrada Família in the morning. Walk both façades, continue toward the Recinte Modernista de Sant Pau, then have lunch nearby. Spend the afternoon in Gràcia and use Park Güell only if you are comfortable with a second timed entry.

Start at Barcelona Cathedral and walk the Roman and medieval core before the lanes fill. Cross into El Born for Santa Maria del Mar, the Picasso Museum if reserved, shops and dinner.

Use the morning for Montjuïc views, the Miró museum or the MNAC collection. Return through Sant Antoni or Poble-sec for lunch. Later, walk Passeig de Gràcia and choose Casa Batlló or La Pedrera.

Choose Montserrat for mountain scenery, the sanctuary and a clear change of pace. Stay in Barcelona for a beach walk, Poblenou, another museum, shopping and a long lunch.

The city version is the better choice when food and urban life are the reason for the trip. The mountain version is better when four straight city days feel repetitive.
