What is the best area to stay in Barcelona?

Eixample: best for a first visit
Eixample gives you straightforward streets, strong transport and easy access to Gaudí sites, restaurants and the old city. The area around Girona and Passeig de Sant Joan feels more relaxed than the busiest blocks around Plaça Catalunya.
Best for: first-time visitors, couples who want polished hotels, and travelers with several reservations. Praktik Essens is informal and design-focused. Almanac Barcelona offers a roof terrace and full-service feel close to Passeig de Gràcia.
El Born: best for atmosphere and evenings
El Born places Santa Maria del Mar, galleries, bars and the Gothic Quarter outside the door. It is appealing after dark and convenient for walking, but narrow streets can be noisy and taxis may not reach every entrance.
Best for: travelers who will trade room size and quiet for character. Yurbban Passage has a roof pool and central position. Mercer Hotel Barcelona is more luxurious and atmospheric in the adjacent Gothic Quarter.
Gràcia: best for a neighborhood stay
