4 Days in Lisbon: City Neighborhoods, Belém and Sintra

Spend three full days in Lisbon and one in Sintra. Keep Alfama and the castle together, give Belém a deliberate half-day, use Chiado and Príncipe Real for a slower central day, then reserve Pena Palace before building the Sintra route.

If palaces are not a priority, replace Sintra with Cascais or another Lisbon day. Four days should feel more generous, not merely contain more reservations.

Begin in Baixa, then take transport uphill toward São Jorge Castle. Walk down through Alfama rather than spending the morning climbing repeatedly. Stop at viewpoints, see the cathedral and finish around Mouraria or the river.

Have dinner near the neighborhood where you finish. Crossing Lisbon for a famous table adds another hill and makes the first day feel scheduled.

Reserve Jerónimos Monastery in the morning, then choose the church, riverside, MAAT or another museum. See Belém Tower from outside even when an interior visit is not practical. Have a pastel de nata, but do not let the pastry queue control the day.

Start with coffee in Chiado, browse shops and bookshops, then climb or ride toward Príncipe Real. Take a long lunch, walk through the garden and continue toward São Bento or Estrela if energy holds.

Choose Sintra for palaces, gardens and an intensive sightseeing day. Choose Cascais for the coast, lunch and fewer reservations. Sintra needs a Pena Palace time; Cascais works with a live train check and weather.
