How do you get a table at La Pergola in Rome?

How do you get a table at La Pergola in Rome? I'd book it online on the day your dinner date comes into range, 120 days ahead, for a Tuesday or Wednesday rather than a Saturday. That is the limit in the restaurant's own booking FAQ, checked October 31, 2026: reservations can be made up to 120 days in advance through the Book Table button on La Pergola's page, and the online calendar shows live availability.

La Pergola is Heinz Beck's restaurant on the top floor of the Rome Cavalieri, a Waldorf Astoria hotel on Monte Mario, the hill above the Vatican. The hotel calls it the only three Michelin star restaurant in Rome. It serves dinner only, Tuesday to Saturday, from 7pm, and keeps your table for the whole evening, so there is one seating and no second turn to wait for.

The restaurant's own advice is several weeks ahead. That works for a Tuesday in November. For a Friday or Saturday in spring or autumn, or any dinner you are building a trip around, book on the first day the calendar allows.

What are La Pergola's booking rules?

From La Pergola's FAQ and menu, linked from romecavalieri.com, checked October 31, 2026

Annual closures3 weeks in January and 3 weeks in August; exact dates not posted

Two rules change how you book. A party of four or more is served the tasting menu, so à la carte is only for tables of up to three. And the reservations office keeps weekday office hours, so a question asked on a Friday evening is answered on Monday. Use the online calendar for the booking itself and email the reservations office for anything the form cannot hold, such as a dietary exclusion.

When does your date open for booking?

Count back 120 days from the dinner. On October 31, 2026, the calendar reaches February 28, 2027, a Sunday when the restaurant is closed, so the last bookable dinner is Saturday, February 27. Some dates worth knowing:

  • Saturday, March 27, 2027, the night before Easter: opens around Friday, November 27, 2026.
  • Saturday, April 24, 2027: opens around Friday, December 25, 2026, Christmas Day. The online calendar takes the booking whether or not anyone is in the office.
  • Saturday, May 15, 2027: opens around Friday, January 15, 2027.
  • Saturday, September 18, 2027: opens around Friday, May 21, 2027.

These dates assume the 120 days count from the dinner date. The FAQ does not say at what hour new dates appear, so check the calendar the morning of the opening day, Rome time, and again that evening.

How do you get to La Pergola and back?

Book a car or a taxi both ways. The Rome Cavalieri sits on Monte Mario, away from the historic center, and its free shuttle to Via Veneto makes its last run from the hotel at 6pm and its last run back from Via Veneto at 6:30pm, Monday to Saturday. Dinner starts at 7pm, so the shuttle can get you there early and cannot bring you home. The hotel's page puts a taxi to or from Termini station at about 20 to 25 euros; the concierge, +39 06 3509 2040, books cars.

The other way to do it is to stay at the Cavalieri for the night, which turns the trip back across Rome into an elevator ride. I'd only do that if the dinner is the reason for the trip; for a first visit, a hotel in the center and a car is the better plan. Where to stay in Rome picks the hotel.

What should you do if La Pergola is full?

Try a weeknight before you give up on the trip. Tuesday and Wednesday are the dinners I'd check first, and a table for two is easier to find than one for four. Changes and cancellations are free until 72 hours before, so check the calendar again four days before your date, while other guests can still cancel without paying.

If you are one of two or three people who do not want ten courses, look at à la carte: from 230 euros a person for two courses and dessert, against 350 for the full menu. It is the same dining room. A larger party should email the reservations office rather than search the calendar for a table over eight.

Where does La Pergola fit in a Rome trip?

Put it on a night with nothing after it and a light lunch before it: ten courses from 7pm is the whole evening. La Pergola is closed on Sundays and Mondays, so plan the rest of the week's dinners around it.

For the rest of the trip, the Armando al Pantheon guide and the Da Enzo guide cover the two Roman trattorias that also need a plan. Three days in Rome leaves room for one long dinner, and Easter 2027 in Rome has the dates that fill the city in spring.
