Should you book the Ritz Paris or the Hôtel de Crillon?
Ritz Paris or Hôtel de Crillon? For two people I'd book the Ritz: its Deluxe Room is 45 square meters against the Crillon's 32 square meter entry room, and the hotel itself, three bars, a 16 meter pool and a garden, is the reason to stay on Place Vendôme. Book the Crillon for a family, which can add an extra bed in several categories, or for the one thing the Ritz cannot sell you: a suite looking onto Place de la Concorde.
The Ritz's site showed a Deluxe Room from 2,500 euros a night and its smallest room, the Superior, from 2,200 euros when I checked on October 30, 2026, for an October 31 arrival. The Crillon's pages show no rates, so price it for your dates before deciding.

Who should book the Ritz Paris?
A couple, a solo traveler, or anyone who will spend part of the day in the hotel. The Ritz has more to do inside it than the Crillon: Bar Hemingway opens every evening with no booking, Salon Proust serves tea every afternoon, the Grand Brunch runs on Sundays, the pool and gym open at 7am, and the Ecole Ritz Escoffier cooking school is in the building. Place Vendôme puts the Tuileries garden, the Louvre and the Opéra within a walk.
The catch is the view. No Ritz room category promises one; only suites name the square or the Grand Jardin. The Ritz room guide says which side to ask for.
Who should book the Hôtel de Crillon?
A family, or anyone booking a suite for the square. The Crillon publishes its family terms: an extra bed is 200 euros a night for guests 14 and over in certain categories, and the Grand Premier Room I'd pick takes one. At the top, Les Grands Appartements face Place de la Concorde and rue Boissy d'Anglas, reimagined by Karl Lagerfeld, and can be joined to an adjoining bedroom to make a three-bedroom apartment.
Its rooms below suite level face the inner courtyards or rue Boissy d'Anglas, not the square, so the façade is not what you are paying for. The Crillon room guide has every category.
What should you ask for when you book?
At the Ritz, ask about the Forever Paris rate before booking the plain room rate. The hotel's FAQ describes it as a guaranteed room upgrade at booking, flexible check-in and check-out subject to availability, breakfast in the Salon Marie-Louise and priority access to the spa, with cancellation up to 72 hours before arrival. A second version adds a private driver from the aircraft door. Whichever rate you take, write your arrival time in the comments when you book on the hotel's site, since that is where the FAQ says early check-in and late check-out are requested, and ask for the garden side if sleep matters more than the square.
At the Crillon, plan around the times it publishes: check-in from 3pm, check-out before noon. On an overnight flight that means a morning without a room unless you book the night before, which is the call I'd make for any arrival before 10am. Ask for the courtyard side, the quieter of the two outlooks below suite level, and if you are three, book the Grand Premier Room or a Junior Suite, the categories where an extra bed is possible.
What else should you read before booking a Paris palace hotel?
The Ritz room guide and the Crillon room guide pick the room once you have the hotel. For a garden and a balcony instead, the Le Bristol room guide makes the case for the Faubourg Saint-Honoré. Where to stay in Paris picks the neighborhood first, and Paris in November 2026 has the dates that fill the hotels.
