Which room should you book at Cheval Blanc Paris?
Book the Balcony Deluxe Room: 45 square meters with a private balcony looking over the Louvre, with the Eiffel Tower in the distance, and it is the only room below suite level with outdoor space. It sleeps two, which is the one limit to know before you book it.
Cheval Blanc Paris has 72 rooms and suites on the Seine. Most categories are named for what they look at; the Pont Neuf room is the exception. Four of the five Deluxe categories are 45 to 48 square meters; the Pont Neuf is 65. Below that, you are choosing between a balcony, the Louvre, a side view of the Seine or the street, not between sizes.
The hotel adds one caution on every room page: the view depends on the floor you are given. I would read the category as the direction you face, and ask for a high floor to get the most of it.
How do the Cheval Blanc Paris rooms compare?
| Category | Size | Guests | View |
|---|---|---|---|
| Deluxe Room | 45 m² | Up to 3 | Haussmann-era buildings across the street |
| Louvre Deluxe Room | 45 m² | Up to 3 | The Louvre colonnade and the church of Saint-Germain-l'Auxerrois |
| Balcony Deluxe Room | 45 m² | Up to 2 | Private balcony, the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower in the distance |
| Parisian Deluxe Room | 48 m² | Up to 3 | Side view of the Seine, facing the Île de la Cité |
| Pont Neuf Deluxe Room | 65 m² | Up to 3 | Haussmann-era façades and rue de la Monnaie |
| Balcony Junior Suite | 55 m² | Up to 3 | Sixth floor, balcony facing the Seine: Notre-Dame, the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre |
| Seine Junior Suite | 55 m² | Up to 3 | Winter garden, an enclosed glass sitting room, over the Seine |
| Seine Suite | 105 m² | Up to 3 | Over the Seine, with living and dining rooms |
Every one of these lists a marble bathroom with a bathtub and a walk-in hammam shower, a steam shower, plus a separate dressing room, so the bathroom does not change the choice.
Which Cheval Blanc room should you skip?
Skip the plain Deluxe Room if you came for the view. Its page describes the view as the Haussmann-era buildings and golden façades of the street, which means the apartment buildings opposite, not the river or the Louvre. It is the same 45 square meters as the Louvre Deluxe Room, so if the price gap for your dates is small, take the Louvre.
The Pont Neuf Deluxe Room is the other one to think twice about. Despite the name, its page puts the view on the façades and rue de la Monnaie, a side street, not on the Pont Neuf bridge. Book it for its 65 square meters and its lounge area, which make it the best room here for a family of three, not for the view.
Which room has the best Seine view?
For a room, the Parisian Deluxe Room; for a real river view, a suite. The Parisian Deluxe Room is 48 square meters facing the Île de la Cité, and its page says plainly that the Seine is a side view. That is the closest a room category gets to the river.
To look straight at the Seine, step up to the Balcony Junior Suite, 55 square meters on the sixth floor with a balcony toward Notre-Dame, the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre. It is the room I would book for a special occasion here, because it combines the river and the balcony. The Seine Junior Suite is the same size with a winter garden instead of a balcony, the better pick from November to March, when you would sit behind glass rather than outside.
Who should upgrade to a suite?
Upgrade for the Seine, for a living room, or for a third guest who wants outdoor space; the Balcony Deluxe Room already covers two people who want a view.
- Couples on a special trip: the Balcony Junior Suite, for the river and the balcony together.
- Winter visits: the Seine Junior Suite, whose enclosed winter garden is usable in any weather.
- Families: the Seine Suite, 105 square meters with a living room and dining room, which can connect to a Deluxe Room so children get their own room.
What should you ask for when you book?
- A high floor: the hotel says the view depends on the floor you are given, so ask for the highest available in your category.
- Connecting rooms, named by category: the Balcony Deluxe Room connects to a Louvre Deluxe Room, Louvre Deluxe Rooms connect to each other, Pont Neuf Deluxe Rooms connect to each other, and a Deluxe Room or Parisian Deluxe Room connects to a Seine Suite. Ask for the pair when you book, not on arrival.
- Three guests: the Balcony Deluxe Room takes two, so a third guest means the Louvre, Parisian or Pont Neuf room, or a suite.
