Book the underground: the Full Experience Underground and Arena ticket costs 24 euros, exactly what the Full Experience Arena costs, and it includes the arena floor as well as the tunnels beneath it. At the same price there is no reason to choose the arena alone unless the underground is sold out for your date.",

Book the underground: the Full Experience Underground and Arena ticket costs 24 euros, exactly what the Full Experience Arena costs, and it includes the arena floor as well as the tunnels beneath it. At the same price there is no reason to choose the arena alone unless the underground is sold out for your date.\nThe underground is where the Colosseum makes sense as a machine: the passages and lift shafts that brought animals and scenery up into the arena. You see it in a guided group, which the park's rules cap at 25 people every 15 minutes. That cap is why it sells out before the standard ticket.\nAgainst the standard 18 euro ticket, the underground is a 6 euro step up. I would make it on any first visit where you care how the building worked, and skip it only for children too young to follow a guide."

It costs the same 18 euros as the standard ticket but swaps the upper levels for 20 minutes on the floor. For 6 euros more, the Full Experience Arena gives you both, plus a second day for the Forum."

"text": "• Book the day sales open: the underground goes on sale 30 days before the visit, the same day as every other ticket, and the guided groups are small.\n• Arrive 30 minutes early: the park's rules ask underground visitors to be there at least 30 minutes before the time on the ticket, with no tolerance for delays. A late arrival loses the slot.\n• Names count: every ticket carries the visitor's name and you show ID. For visits from May 9, 2026 a name can be changed once, by midnight seven days before, and only for the reasons on the official hours page.\n• Children: under 12 must be with an adult who holds a ticket.\n• Group size limits: one person can buy at most eight underground tickets a day."

"text": "From October 25, 2026 to February 28, 2027 the Colosseum is open 8:30am to 4:30pm, with last admission at 3:30pm, so take a morning underground slot. The hours page also lists closures on December 25 and January 1.\nA morning slot leaves daylight for the Forum and the Palatine on the same day. With a Full Experience ticket you can also move them to the next day, since it is valid for two consecutive days, which is the better plan in December when the light goes early."

It is the right ticket for someone who has already seen the underground. On a first visit, the underground explains the building and the view only shows it."

The first-visit Rome booking order puts this 30-day purchase next to the Vatican and the Borghese Gallery, and three days in Rome gives the Colosseum its morning. In December, the Rome in December guide has the short winter days."
