That gives you Gothic Milan, Leonardo and the city’s modern design culture without treating Milan as a station between Florence and Lake Como.\nTwo full days are enough for a confident first visit. Skip a day trip. Lake Como and Bergamo both deserve more than the time left over after a late breakfast and a train ride."

"text": "Last Supper reservations are mandatory for every ticket type. The museum releases tickets in scheduled blocks, the visit inside the refectory lasts 15 minutes and each group is limited. The official museum asks visitors to arrive 30 minutes before the entry time. Large bags, food and drinks are not allowed inside, and lockers are limited to 60 minutes.\nYour slot | Plan around it\nEarly morning | See Leonardo first, walk through Santa Maria delle Grazie, then continue to Triennale and Parco Sempione.\nMidday | Have a light early lunch nearby, see the painting, then choose Triennale or Fondazione Prada for the afternoon.\nLate afternoon | Use the morning for modern art, leave plenty of transfer time and finish around Corso Magenta or Brera.\nDo not buy the rest of the itinerary and hope Leonardo fits. Get this slot, then set the day."

"text": "Start on the Duomo terraces, then visit the cathedral. The roof gives you the close view of the marble spires that the piazza cannot. Walk through the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, but save coffee and lunch for somewhere chosen for the food.\nLuini is useful when you want a quick panzerotto. For a real lunch, continue into Brera. La Libera is the warmer sit-down choice for risotto and traditional Milanese cooking. Ratanà is excellent, but Isola pulls you away from this compact route, so keep it for dinner.\nSpend the afternoon at the Pinacoteca di Brera. It is open Tuesday through Sunday, and the last entry is well before closing. The current €20 Grande Brera ticket also covers Palazzo Citterio on the same day and the following six days. Afterward, walk Via Solferino and the smaller streets. Have an aperitivo at Bar Jamaica when the old artist-bar room interests you more than a cocktail list."

"text": "Ticket | Current price | Choose it when\nCathedral and museum | €10, or €8 Wednesday when the museum is closed | You do not care about the roof.\nRooftop only | €18 lift, €16 stairs | You have already seen the cathedral or time is tight.\nCombined pass | €26 lift, €22 stairs | This is your first visit and you want both.\nThe combined pass is valid for the selected day and the following day, which helps if weather changes. The official Duomo access page lists current inclusions and fast-track options. Use the stairs if you are comfortable with them. Use the lift if saving energy will make the rest of the day better."

"text": "Go to Santa Maria delle Grazie for the reserved Last Supper slot. Afterward, walk toward Triennale Milano if Italian design is the reason you came. Its exhibitions change, so check the current program rather than assuming the permanent display is the main event.\nChoose Fondazione Prada instead when contemporary art and architecture matter more. The industrial campus is the destination, with Bar Luce as a useful pause. It requires a Metro or taxi move, so it is not a casual add-on to Triennale.\nChoose one. Triennale keeps the day central and makes room for Parco Sempione. Fondazione Prada gives you a more ambitious art afternoon. Trying to see both after Leonardo makes the day about transfers rather than Milan."

"heading": "Where should you have aperitivo and dinner?",
"text": "Bar Basso is the choice for the room, oversized glasses and its place in Milanese design history. It is a destination, so go when that story appeals to you. In Brera, an earlier drink keeps the evening walkable.\nTrippa is the lively modern trattoria dinner if you can reserve it. Ratanà is the choice for modern Milanese cooking and a proper risotto in Isola. Navigli is worth seeing for the canals and evening energy, but a generic canal-side buffet is not the city’s best meal. Reserve somewhere you actually want before wandering."

"heading": "Where should you stay for two nights?",
"text": "Area | Best for | The catch\nBrera | A first visit with atmosphere, restaurants and walks home after aperitivo | Rooms can be expensive and street noise varies, so request a quieter position.\nPorta Venezia | Design, independent restaurants and nightlife | You will use the Metro for the Last Supper and some central sights.\nCentrale | An early departure or a one-night rail stop | The station is the reason to stay here. Plan your evenings elsewhere.\nFor two nights, location beats an elaborate hotel you barely use. In Brera, a good lobby and a side-street room matter more than a spa. In Porta Venezia, choose a hotel close enough that returning after dinner stays easy. If Milan is one stop in a longer route, compare it with the two-week Italy itinerary before adding another hotel change.\nIf you arrive by train, leave the luggage at the hotel and begin the route where you are. A late arrival should shorten Brera, not push the Last Supper reservation into an unsafe connection. Malpensa is outside the city, so count the complete airport journey when deciding whether an early flight and a final museum belong on the same morning."

"text": "I would add lake nights only when you want time at the lake, rather than squeeze the same visits into a Milan day trip. The Bellagio or Varenna base comparison separates a direct train arrival from a hotel-led Bellagio stay. Leave enough time to use the room and make the onward journey without a tight boat-to-train connection."
